Dressing Your Child for Less

trendyHave you ever seen the Lifestyle Network show Look for Less?  You can experience the same fun way of shopping for clothes for your child.  Children from tweens to teens could be quite tricky to shop for as they are already trying to assert their own individual style.  Agreeing on a particular look and on a set budget beforehand would be a good way to start a more amicable and fun shopping experience.  One other advantage of shopping this way is that you get to steer your child’s fashion choices away from outrageous, sleazy, or dark styles.

Before you go on your shopping trip, find time to sit together and go through some children’s fashion magazines.  Point out which styles you think would look nice on your child.  Make note also of those particular looks that your child points out to you to get a general feel of what direction your child wants to take in terms of fashion.  You can also watch fashion shows together or go through online catalogs to see what’s hot in children’s fashion.  Set aside several choices.  If you are going for several outfits, you can maximize your purchases even more by coordinating your outfits so that they can mixed and match to create new outfits.  Once you have made your choices, try and estimate how much everything would cost.  If you think you do not have enough budget to cover everything, you can narrow down your choices or number your choices according to priority and purchase one outfit at a time.

With your child’s outfits chosen and your budget at hand, you are now ready to make that date at the mall and be on your way to creating looks for less for your very own child.
