Making Accessories Work

shopping4In the world of women’s clothing, there are many aspects and details to consider. An outfit is not just composed of a top, pants and shoes. It can be a series of layers, accessories, and statements. Everything is a detail that can express your style: color, pattern, texture, fabric, and material just to name a few. So how do you make accessories work with your outfit? Here are a few quick tips to follow when composing your next outfit.

Metallic items, such as gold or silver jewelry, gems, sequins, glitter, shimmer etc. should be kept to a minimum. This time of statement should be reserved for just one singular object, to become the focal point of your outfit. This keeps you from overdoing it. Just because sequins and glitter are both metallic and shiny, doesn’t mean they match, and doesn’t mean you should wear them together. This will prevent you from coming off as a disco ball.

Loud patterns should also be kept to a singular item maximum. If your top has a bright print, keep the bottoms to a neutral: black, white or grey. Red may be found in the pattern, and therefore seem as if it will match, but you might end up looking like a circus tent.

Classic Styles for Kids to Remain in Style

classicThe fashion world is a highly volatile one, and this applies, too, for kids’ fashion. Keeping up with the latest trends for kids can get quite tiresome and expensive, so it would serve parents everywhere well if they keep in mind some basic yet timeless styles to keep their kids in style while keeping within their budget.

For young girls (all girls of all ages, really), pink is the customary color. It definitely brings out the girly and the feminine. However, pink doesn’t have to be overly delicate as it can look quite modern, too. Choose classic clothes that fit well. Keep in mind, too, that pink has a range of different shades, so just pick the right shade of pink that suits your little girl’s personality.

Denim overalls on young boys are a great choice because these give boys the freedom to move. They are also practical because they have a spacious fit around the waist and adjustable shoulder straps, so overalls are bound to be in little boys’ closets for quite sometime. Aside from these, overalls also have lots of pockets in which boys can store their treasures.

Black has always been in style because of its versatility and ease with matching with almost any color. While some may think that black is too somber on kids, mixing black with a brighter color, a fun pattern, or cute details works well for kids. Make black casual by combining it with denim.

Another style that never becomes passé for kids is knits. You can never go wrong with matching sweater and cap sets as these look simply adorable on children. Layering with knits is a simple yet classic style. Finish off this look with a casual, comfy pair of jeans.

How to Choose Infant & Toddler Shoes

infantInfant shoes are popular, despite the fact that the infant cannot walk yet! People view infant shoes as a fashion statement to match the outfit that the infant is wearing.

There are many types of infant shoes:

Crib Shoes
Crib shoes are designed with soft soles to be worn through the infant years – available in sizes from newborn to six and nine months of age. Crib shoes are soft soles which can be easily put on the child and will not come off when the child kicks the shoes off of their feet. They can protect the child from scratching themselves with their toenails. There are often handy tabs on the back of the crib shoes to allow the parent to remove the shoes and put them on easy.

Toddler Shoes
Toddler shoes are created with more of a stiff sole to enable the child to begin walking and have support while they are walking. The stiff sole is an essential part of being able to learn to walk as it may cause difficulty walking in shoes that are similar to crib shoes that have a soft sole.

Shoes range in price from $4.00 to $26.00 for elite brands of crib and infant shoes – depending on the type of shoes that you choose and the material in which the shoes are created from, this will largely determine the price.

Investing in high-quality children’s fashion

designerInvesting on clothes for your kids does not automatically mean that you have to get them designer stuff or clothes from high end shops. As there are now loads of options when it comes to shopping for children’s fashion, it is a lot easier for parents to get fashionable items for their kids that have great quality minus the hefty price tag. All you really need to do is to become more abreast with the different trends in children’s fashion as well the many different stores and brands that have been popping up so that you will get a better idea of which ones would be the best choice for your kids.

Here are some points that you need to consider when it comes to quality children’s fashion pieces:

Check out the clothing’s style. Do try to veer away from styles that are too funky for your taste because chances are these will be out of style in just a couple of months. However, if your children find a certain style cute but you find it “too trendy”, at least make a compromise and not totally deprive your child. Tell him or her that you will get that outfit but in a more budget-friendly store. Reserve the “high-end shopping” for more classic styles instead.

Make sure of the quality of the items. This is very important especially if your kids tend to be quite sensitive to certain materials – especially fabrics. Even if the item’s “cheap” you still shouldn’t settle for materials that would cause a bad effect on your child. In this case, it is still best to invest in more quality items instead.

Dressing Your Child for Less

trendyHave you ever seen the Lifestyle Network show Look for Less?  You can experience the same fun way of shopping for clothes for your child.  Children from tweens to teens could be quite tricky to shop for as they are already trying to assert their own individual style.  Agreeing on a particular look and on a set budget beforehand would be a good way to start a more amicable and fun shopping experience.  One other advantage of shopping this way is that you get to steer your child’s fashion choices away from outrageous, sleazy, or dark styles.

Before you go on your shopping trip, find time to sit together and go through some children’s fashion magazines.  Point out which styles you think would look nice on your child.  Make note also of those particular looks that your child points out to you to get a general feel of what direction your child wants to take in terms of fashion.  You can also watch fashion shows together or go through online catalogs to see what’s hot in children’s fashion.  Set aside several choices.  If you are going for several outfits, you can maximize your purchases even more by coordinating your outfits so that they can mixed and match to create new outfits.  Once you have made your choices, try and estimate how much everything would cost.  If you think you do not have enough budget to cover everything, you can narrow down your choices or number your choices according to priority and purchase one outfit at a time.

With your child’s outfits chosen and your budget at hand, you are now ready to make that date at the mall and be on your way to creating looks for less for your very own child.

springSpring is a wonderful season, the temperature is just right, it’s not too cold nor too warm, and the flowers are starting to bloom.  The atmosphere is conducive enough for your children to enjoy outdoor activities.  Make it much more fun for them to engage in their chosen activities by putting together a trendy and fashionable spring wardrobe for them.  The spring children’s fashion is all about combining style and comfort.  Big bold prints and florals are in as well as solid classic colors paired with neutral bottoms.  Girls’ fashion take a fun and funky look while boys’ fashion stay cool and causal.  Cottons and other breathable fabrics are still the material of choice of manufacturers of children’s clothing.  Roomy clothing like dresses and jersey shirts are also great pieces for spring as they allow for a variety of movements.  The free-flowing cut of these clothes also add to the comfort of children wearing them.

Before going out to shop for your children’s spring wardrobe, do not forget to make an inventory of your children’s wardrobe to see if you have items that can crossover to the next season.  This will leave you more room on your budget for other items.  Have an idea of what items your child would need in his or her spring wardrobe and make a list of these items.  Make a mental image of what look you want to achieve.  You can try to find clothing items that you can mix and match to create more outfits.  If your child is already at an age when he is ready to make decisions on what to wear, you should involve him in your spring wardrobe shopping.  Spending time together picking out clothes and shopping for these clothes would be a good activity to get to know your child better.

Dressing Your Little Ones

childrens-fashionDressing up your little ones can be an excitingly cute preoccupation for most parents.  The amount of items available nowadays designed specifically with your young ones in mind are aplenty.  Gone are the days when children’s fashion followed their parents’.  In the days before the Industrial Revolution, it is not uncommon to find children wearing miniatures of what their parents are wearing.  Little boys were decked with fancy velvet suits trimmed with lace collars and little girls were dressed up with elaborate gowns made with layers of fancy silk.  Now, children can be children in great comfort as clothes made for children have been made available.

Children’s fashion today have evolved into clothes that allow children to be children.  These clothes are made to appeal to their own young taste and to withstand the activities they engage in everyday.  Even children’s party clothes today allow for some amount of romping and free movement.  The most common fabrics used for everyday children’s fashion are cool and comfortable like cotton and other fabrics that “breathe” well.  Together with denim, cotton pieces work well as everyday children’s clothing.  They are comfortable for kids to wear, and easy enough for parents to wash.

In the price arena, children’s clothing do not go far either below or under grown up clothes.  Most parents usually spend hundreds of dollars in their children’s clothes while scrimping on their own clothes.  There are even designers who are specializing in this particular market segment, churning out children’s couture one season after another.  There is, however, no need to bust your budget for these clothes as children are known to outgrow their clothes really fast.  As long as you have got the general look on your mind, you can shop around with your little ones for great bargains in children’s clothing.

Children’s fashion need not break the bank

childfashionChildren’s fashion is just like fashion for adults in the fact that it is ever changing. There are a lot of parents that seem comfortable with the idea of spending a fortune on their children’s clothes. You don’t have to break the bank to make sure that your children stay fashionable, there are now many supermarkets that cater for the younger trend-setter.

Whilst it may seem expensive, at least when buying an expensive item for yourself as an adult you know that the item will last. Even if it drops out of fashion you will still be able to wear it on occasion. Unless of course it drops into the realm of embarrassment that’s is. I mean, who would be seen dead in a Von Dutch cap these days? At one time they seemed all the rage but now they are hidden at the back of the wardrobe. When buying an expensive item for a child, there is only a limited time before the child grows out of it. This is fine however if the child has a younger sibling to hand it down to.

So, if you are on a tight budget, it doesn’t mean that your child has to lack in the fashion stakes, just shop smarter.
